The location was second to none. The Duomo towers above you the minute you step outside the front gate of the hotel, and all other sites of interest in Florence are within walking distance as well. At the same time, the minute you enter the hotel, the hustle and bustle of the city subsides, and you can get a welcome respite from the heat and the crowds (we were there in July; thankfully, there was excellent air conditioning in our room). The entrance, a little unusually, is on the second floor, but there is a small lift to take you up there as well as a broad stone staircase. The inside of the palazzo is stunning and authentic, yet intimate. The small breakfast room is full of frescoes and antique furniture, and it feels almost like sitting in a dining room rather than a hotel. There are only 12 rooms in the hotel, and this boutique feeling is present throughout. We had booked a junior suite but were upgraded to a suite, which was just lovely. We got the impression that they willingly do this whenever possible. Our rooms were beautiful and generous, with original floors and furniture, and it felt just right to experience the renaissance city of Florence this way. There was an espresso machine in our room, which was appreciated, and in the afternoon, there are complimentary tea and cakes in the dining room, which was a welcome touch. All of the staff were kind, down to earth and helpful, which we appreciated so much (having had other experiences at other palazzos in other cities). Upon check-in, we were shown to our room and told 'this is your home away from home for the next three days', and it truly felt that way.

We had an absolutely incredible experience at Palazzo Niccolini ! From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The check-in process was seamless, and we was immediately impressed by the stylish decor and pristine cleanliness throughout the property. Our room was nothing short of perfection – spacious, beautifully furnished, and equipped with all the amenities one could need. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep. Little touches like complimentary snacks, champagne , candles and a personalized note made our stay feel extra special. Breakfast was a delightful spread with something for everyone and was superb. But what truly sets this hotel apart is the impeccable service by the owner Niccolini and every staff member we encountered was friendly, professional, and eager to assist with any request. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious, hassle-free, and memorable stay.

Beautiful property situated in the perfect location to experience all of Florence’s most popular attractions and restaurants. The staff were amazingly helpful throughout our stay, recommending and making reservations on our behalf at various restaurants, and able to help with any requests we had. We were also given some interesting information about the history of the property upon checking in. Breakfast was in the lounge, a common area for guests; buffet style breakfast with cappuccinos made on request. Afternoon tea was also served here daily, included with the room cost. I couldn’t recommend anywhere better than here if you want to do Florence right and really enjoy your time there in luxury. We loved the convenience of being able to do some sightseeing and walking, come back of the hotel to freshen up, and head straight back out into the middle of Florence again. A perfect place for our honeymoon trip to Florence, thank you to the attentive staff for everything.

So close to everything! A short block from the Duomo (back side). You would think with location that it would have been noisy but so quiet (and our room overlooked the street!). Very comfortable bed and room. We stayed in a junior suite so had plenty of room to spread out. Shower was exceptional. This is a former palace that has been converted so the ceilings are extraordinary and decor is beautiful. Added bonus is that there is a wine window just around the corner. That was a goal of mine to find one that didn’t feel quite so touristy so at the end of the block (away from the Duomo), go left and wine window is on the right. Cool y yo start the evening.

We stayed here over Christmas. The hotel is situated next to the cathedral which means that everything is within easy walking distance. It is is one of the few, if not the only hotel in Florence still family-owned having been passed down through generations of the Niccolini family. Try not to judge the hotel by its unusual courtyard entry or the second-floor situated reception. Our stay in this authentic medieval hotel was very comfortable and warm. The east-facing window in our room gave us the treat of a sunrise over the mountains every morning - very romantic.
